Great Gas Tank?
I was wondering if the resident gas experts would weigh in on this little jewel. Seems like a cost effective way to store fuel and disperse it comfortably.

Re: Great Gas Tank?
Yer paying for a name, Drew. Far better to go with a set of 5G cans at $15 each, and section of siphon hose. The larger can may have wheels, but you can't load it into your car to take it to get it filled. Full it'll weight well over 100lbs, and those plastic wheels aren't going to be your friend over rough ground.
Just checked something. 14g of gas weights 87lbs. |
Re: Great Gas Tank?
I get these for free....the wheels to move them, however, were 20 grand. :D

Maybe I should just get a drum and leave it in the shed, siphoning as needed. That baby would be a beast to fill with smaller gas cans, though. Did you mention that you got the drum from the refinery? |

I get those NATO cans for $10 each. You have to buy five at a time, but it's WAY cheap. And they are much better than the older US Jerry cans. Or are you saying that THREE of them is $30. Which means they are $10 each from your source as well. And the spouts lock in and flow much better. I think I paid $15 for the spout. Might have been $25. It's been a while ago. |
Re: Great Gas Tank?
Plain ole plastic fuel cans and this awesome homemade pump would be my preferred setup.

Andy, are those rifle ports in that wall?

Re: Great Gas Tank?
ahahaha....no, lights. Have them set up on a sensor so anything coming along the driveway ( I had my car in mind, but it works for dogs, deer, and bear just as well ) will trip the lights on.

I get them from a local fuel distributor.....they had motor and transmission oils in them. They sell bulk lubricants to area industries, and take the empty drums back as a favor to the folks they sell to....but then they are stuck with them except as scrap metal....they apparently aren't worth shipping back to the place they are filled due to shipping costs. |

Why ? |

Why ? Well, I guess I could have bought a Ford Navigator ( or put a down payment on one ) and driven around town......but since this particular tool has probably paid for itself about 3 times over, I guess I just screwed up. Actually, with the backhoe unit, disc, 5' wide tiller, plow, bushog, post hole digger, box scraper, fertilizer spreader, boom sprayer, log skidding winch, two different buckets, pallet forks, I probably have another 10k in attachments...man....I'm dumber than dirt. |
Re: Great Gas Tank?
Here's a chance for redemption..... I'll take all that tractor crap off your hands and you can have my fancy bassboat in trade.
I might warn you that both 20 gallon tanks are on E and running top speed on a light chop you can expect a very thrifty 2 miles to the gallon.:stickyman:D |

Re: Great Gas Tank?
Paid $7900 (no tax - farm exempt) for mine, came with a bucket loader 3 cylinder diesel. All the options were extra, bush hog, finish mower, post hole digger, 2 bottom plow, disk, & scraper blade. This is my second tractor, the first is an older gas tractor but capable to use all these attachments too. However, my wife is trying to sell the old one as she doesn't think a man needs more than one of anything, she feels the same about my firearms.
